Twitter in Papervision3D

I’m settling in at the new job nicely, thanks for asking! This week I had the opportunity to look into Papervision3D and AIR… and let me just say, my Flash-fever has officially returned. Isn’t it great when something like this happens and you realise just how much you love your work!

Michael Battle - TwitMaker - Twitter in Paparvision3D

On Thursday night I went along to the local Twitter meetup group, ‘MTUB‘ (MelbTwitUngrdBrigade). Lightmaker Melbourne sponsored the event and as a result I was prompted to throw something together for the big screen. … so I grabbed the opportunity and decided to visualise the group’s twitter feed PV3D style.

The idea was that people would be able to Tweet via their mobiles and see the action on the big screen. This worked until the Horse Bazaar network decided to cache the feed (either that or the API wasn’t playing nicely). Regardless, it looked pretty cool on the wall.

The feed above is the friends theme for my footloosemoose experimental Twitter account… add it as a friend and you may see your comments in prime time.

If you’re a Melbournian and enjoy your Twitter, make sure you subscribe to the group and turn up at the next meeting. It was great to put faces to some of the names.

doh, cant get it to zoom back out !

Nice work though man. How was the API? I had a quick look at it, seems like a bloody simple REST system. i want to hack together something that sits on my desktop, so i don’t have to use twitbin anymore, it’s a bit crapola.

This page not conducive to dialup! Margot retired this week and we are celebrating at the Sheraton, Noosa. Congrats to you and Sam on your recent wedding, and to you on the new job.

Didn’t dialup go out with cassette tapes?

Congrats to Margot on the retirement! Maybe you two should join Steve Sugden and plan a trip to South Africa for April 12 next year?

Hi Michael
Do you think you maybe want to release the source for this nice Twitter in papervision3d?

It would be really nice!! :)

Hey Jimmy - I’d love to… but as I did this as work unfortunately it’s not my call.

However, I do promise to release a Papervision3D experiment here sometime soon (developed after hours :) ).
