Red Universe - beta

Here’s something new - Red Interactive, a Californian Ad Agency, have just announced beta access to a virtual community-chatroom-esque site, “Red Universe”.

It’s kind of reassuring to know that when the world is doing their best to take Flash into 3D (and doing a great job of it, by the way), some people are happy just making the X and Y axis prettier.

As you can see from these shots, their creation is visually rich and upon visiting you’ll notice that the interaction is quite smooth. The old-style creative really helps you feel like you’re somewhere unique and magical. You currently have a few avatars to choose from and you can decide to stand around and chat/taunt or press the up arrow and fly through the heavens.

The service is still in beta, which apparently means that not much works except chat. Luckily that’s still enough to get your attention. I love the realism in the scenery, something that I should really get better at. Check it out:
