She said YES!

Welcome to one of the biggest moments in my life.

Yesterday afternoon I asked Samantha to marry me… and she accepted. At approximately 1pm, at the end of a pier in Portsea, I officially became the luckiest man on the planet. Sam’s father (her parents are out from South Africa for a week) captured the event from afar…

Michael Battle - Engagement Day

Afterwards, we went back to Sorrento for an impromptu celebration and spent the rest of the day informing family and talking about the big day… something I’m sure we’ll be doing much more of!

As for what we’ve decided so far, we’re keen to tie the knot around April next year. That may seem like a long way away, but this year we’ve got me starting a new business, two trips to South Africa (including a week in Mauritius!) and us finding and buying our first home. Phew! It’s exhausting just typing that! We’re also very fond of the cooler weather… so we want to make sure the Summer days are long gone before we strap ourselves into the wedding livery.

We’re also talking about having a second celebration in South Africa shortly afterwards (renewal of vows etc) to enable Sam to be around the friends and loved ones that wont be able to make the trip over to Australia.

Michael Battle - The Happy Couple

Well - thanks for reading and sharing this special time with us. I’m sure you’ll get further updates from time to time. If you’ve got any words of wisdom, send them through!

Woohoo! That’s awesome news, guys, congratulations!!! I just love “And they lived happily ever after…” stories, and I’m sure you will.

Hmm, words of wisdom, yes, I’m renowned for those… let’s see… okay, how about I simply share some beautiful quotes about love?

“Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything.”
- Katharine Hepburn

“The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed.”
- J. Krishnamurti

“Where there is love there is life.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

Have a great time celebrating.

Love Jamie

Thanks everyone for your very kind words. No doubt with all of these friends, we’ll never have any problems moving house, finding a babysitter, borrowing money…

Congratulations Michael and Sam. Great news. I love having weddings in the family. Matthew down, now Michael down - who’s next?!! Having received a text from Di in Bangkok telling me the news I gather she is pretty excited. I don’t receive many texts from her.
