New FootlooseMoose Logo

Amongst finishing up at M&C and getting ready for Samantha’s folks to visit next week, I’ve been trying to organise the new look for FootlooseMoose. As the loyal visitors will know, I’m starting up my own Flash Games business and pursuing a number of other projects.

First things first, I needed to come up with a new logo. Keywords I used were fun, funny, bold, carefree, innocent, magical and zany. I really liked the moose (who’s name is Bruce, by the way) in the previous version of the logo (which still can been seen on the holding page at www.footloosemoose.com) but this time I needed something that was easier to animate - and also, importantly, something that could easily be the main character in a game.

This is what I came up with…

I’ve also done the new business cards… but will save these for a future post (I may still change them slightly).

Please let me know what you think.

Although, if I’m really honest, the body does look a little weird to me. For some reason, I imagine an animated moose would have a more peanut-shaped body. Hmm, but then what do I know about animation? That’s just my humble opinion. Still, love your work.

Yo Jimbo - yeah… the round body is very deliberate. I wanted to make sure that he could be animated in many different ways… picture him flying around by flapping his antlers like wings, having his legs pointing straight out to the sides and bouncing on his round body like a big ball etc.

The plan is to create about a dozen games with Bruce as the star… advertising me/FLM and also hopefully going viral itself and demonstrating how good online games can be for your business. Because of this - he needs to be more than just a moose… he needs to be a FootlooseMoose!

I’ve looked into animating a four-legged creature (a quadruped) and apparently, according to the guys that created The Lion King, it’s one of the most difficult things to do in animation!!! So.. I’m sure Bruce will stand on his hind legs and walk around from time to time… Yogi style :)

On that note… make sure if you’ve got game ideas for Bruce’s next adventure, send them through!
