Hey - just a quick update to assure you that I haven’t forgotten about updating the RSS 3D engine.

It was a great surprise to learn that I’d been ‘dugg’ again this week at digg.com - so far over 5500 diggs this time around. As a small token - I’ve updated the code _very slightly_ and have set aside some time in early February to convert the engine to ActionScript 3.
So, yes, the 3D experience will be much faster and smoother (and will also be able to support many, many more items). I’ve had a good rethink regarding the controls and I’m pretty sure you’ll be happy with the outcome. I’m also going to turn www.mb3dengine.com into more of a ’site’ with a few other options, a news section etc.
For now you’ll see that I’m playing around with a spiral configuration - let me know if you like this better. You’ll also notice that I’ve put an ‘X’ button on the top-right of each item to allow you to close the story once you’re done with it. Note - you may have to clear your cache!
It will be worth the wait. Thanks for playing with it and please keep sending through your comments and requests.
Update to the Update:
Seems that the project has been worth a mention over at readwriteweb.com - it raises some interesting points and will definitely be taken into consideration when the rebuild happens - check it out
Update to the Update 2:
The project has been mentioned by Dave Gray over at Rooster’s Rail in an article titled “3D RSS and Websites: Not as Far Away as You Think”. He agrees that the project has potential. Worth a read!
