Flash Particle Generator v2

After some sudden interest around my old particle generator experiment, I decided to update the code and add in a few more features.

ActionScript Experiment - Flash Particle Generator

To play with the update, follow me…

Instructions

  • Click and drag to create particles. The angle and speed of the particles depend on how you move the mouse.
  • Press SPACE to change particle types.

It’s quite interesting seeing the performance issues that arise when more complicated particle movieclips are used. As soon as I get into ActionScript 3, I’ll recreate this to see how much more we can get away with.

Hi Michael,

Is there any chance you would release the source of this project? I would love to use it on a personal project.

Hey Dave - I’ve posted the code for a very similar project in this post - it’s all in AS3 but I don’t think you’ll have any trouble porting it over.

Good luck!

Exellent work Michael…

I am attempting to import the .as you have generously provided into a .fla I am compiling. However I am having no such luck. On the particleGenerator.swf you have made available is there a source file or tutorial available to help me understand how to get the .as into my .fla?

Thank you, keep up the inspiring work.
