Every few millenia, evolution takes a giant leap forward - especially when we’re talking about 3D in Flash.

Just when I was starting to feel good about my 3D engine getting over 500 views… Carlos Ulloa Matesanz comes along and sends the rest of us back to the ol’ drawing board.
Carlos (an Interactive Designer living in London and working at Hi-ReS!) displays his work at www.noventaynueve.com. There’s a healthy dose of Flash 9 work there to whet your ActionScript appetite and not the least of which is the latest version of Papervision, his 3D Engine.
The good news, scratch that, GREAT news is that he’s making the next version open source. So the rest of us will be able to play and learn.

His blurb on the beast is as follows:
The scene contains 514 vertices and 1005 polys imported from 3ds Max. Instead of being generated by code, the mesh data, including vertices, faces and UV mapping, is parsed from an external ASE file.
His site has an interactive demo of the engine (which is where I got the pics from) so head on over and check it out.
