Google Code Search Engine

It’s a good day for fellow nerds. Google have just launched a search engine which indexes publicly available code in 33 languages.

Fantastic news for those of us who like to experiment with ideas which are old-school in more mainstream languages but new to ActionScript.

I’m planning to look futher into Boids and Angular Momentum in the coming weeks and no doubt this will come in handy.

Interestingly, on digg.com there’s a post on how someone has found the source code to Keygen utilities for programs such as winzip, photoshop and mIRC. No doubt this will bring the new service under fire - if it’s illegal for Napster and Kazaa et al to create programs that assist in the trading of pirated material, is it also illegal for Google to provide an interface between us and material that will help facilitate piracy?

Time will tell.
