I was going through my photos this evening and stumbled across this little gem.
The year was 1999. It was the night of my 21st birthday party at the Royal Exchange Hotel in Brisbane. The theme: Pimps & Prostitues of course!
Allow me to introduce my cohorts. On the left we have Saxon: a mate of mine since kindergarten in Cairns. He and his girlfriend, Row, have just spent a year in Canada and have just come home. He’s good to have around when you need someone to share a cask of goon with.
The trendite in the middle is John: a mate of mine since 1996. He’s currently teaching english in South Korea and is coming home in a week or so to get married… and they’ve asked me to be a Groomsman! He and his beautiful fiancé/wife, Celina, are about to live happily ever after.
And that’s me on the right… what can I say… the other two didn’t dress up and now, almost 10 years later, I’m left looking like Bono and Elvis’ love child. I should be so lucky!
It’ll be good to catch up with them again. It’s been too long.
